Managing Reference Data Libraries (RDLs / OTLs)
Before information can be shared, everyone has to agree on what things are. This agreement is stored in a reference data library: it contains the managed definition of what can exist in your world, including the types, classes, and properties your organization is based on.
The course shows the advantages of a well-managed library, from deciding what data can exist to sharing knowledge within your organization and beyond. You will learn the types of reference data libraries and how to design, model, and share them for reuse. You will also learn how to develop and execute a roadmap to gradually increase maturity. As you progress, you will gain the skills to capture, manage, and disseminate knowledge throughout the business. Finally, you will be able to introduce and manage master data, providing your organization with a common and reliable basis to work from.

What you will learn
In three workshops, backed by self-paced coursework, you will become familiar with the various types of reference data libraries and learn how to design, model, and share them so that they can be reused. By the end, you will be able to create libraries suitable for reuse, plot and implement a roadmap to improve their maturity, and capture, manage, and share knowledge within your organization and beyond.

You need practical experience with classification systems, data sheets, or knowledge libraries, or an understanding of why they are needed. This background enables the course to move directly to the design and management of your own libraries.

The course can be taken online, at your own offices, or at an off-site location. It is offered in groups of three to twelve people, which allows time for discussion and practical work.
