Applied Semantic Modeling

Data interoperability sounds like a lofty ideal until someone shows you how to build it. This course does that. Based on the principles of our book SEm Infra, it turns interoperability into practical, real-world semantic modeling and Model Based Systems Engineering, which you can apply straight away.

You’ll acquire the ability to produce meaningful representations of real-life situations using a standard modeling language that can be reused across projects and applications rather than rebuilt each time. This reduces friction when working together and helps information reach where it needs to. Since no previous experience is necessary, by the end of the course, you’ll have a business-level understanding of semantic data interoperability and confidence in your ability to model reality in a way others can take up and reuse.

  • What you will learn

    In two workshops, backed by self-paced coursework, you will learn how to develop standardized, meaningful, and reusable information models and apply a modeling language to represent reality. By the end, you will be able to facilitate reuse across projects and applications and have a clear business-level understanding of what semantic data interoperability means in practice.

    The course is designed for systems engineers and information management professionals who want to develop reusable information models and apply semantic modeling to actual projects with practical results.

  • What background you need

    It’s not essential to have a background in Systems Engineering or information modeling. The course accommodates you no matter where you start and builds on the fundamental principles.

  • How it works

    The course can be attended online, at your own offices, or at an off-site location. It is offered in groups of three to twelve people, which allows time for discussion and practical work.
