KLM Royal Dutch Airlines

Daan studied aerospace engineering at the Delft Technical University, after which he started his career as a consultant with Semmtech. Daan has worked on a variety of projects in different industries, before joining KLM Royal Dutch Airlines to design, develop and implement data science and analytics tools specifically for airlines

“Working at Semmtech is something I look back on fondly. It has allowed me to learn how to be independent, manage projects and has taught me a great deal of confidence in my professional life. Lessons that I still use to this day. The company and its employees are supportive and allow you to quickly grow as a professional person. The opportunity to see many different companies, and the way they work is also something that is really helpful in my current job.”

Google

Tim studied computer science at the University of British Columbia and became a software developer before coming to the Netherlands to work for Semmtech. Tim has made his mark on our software for semantic Linked Data and our development processes. After his time at Semmtech, Tim continued his career in the United States at Google.

“It’s been a very positive experience working at Semmtech. Working on the Laces products helped me learn new technologies and taught me how to effectively solve challenging problems I’ve never seen before. Combining customer-oriented thinking with scalability in mind gave me some really valuable experience. The team has very positive group dynamics with lots of trust and support, so I feel like I grew a lot as a developer, both professionally and personally.”

Amazon

Simone studied at the University of Bologna and came to The Netherlands to spend a couple of years in Amsterdam. He worked as software developer at Semmtech before moving to the United States to join AWS Neptune afterwards. AWS Neptune is a fully managed graph database service we use at Semmtech as well.

”I had a great time at Semmtech. Here I learned to efficiently use Agile/SCRUM, I refined my software development skills, and most importantly I learned about Semantic Web concepts such as RDF, SPARQL, ontologies, data modeling, etc.. The knowledge about graph databases acquired at Semmtech allowed me to detect situations where a graph database would fit better than a relational or NoSQL database. This eventually led me to join the Amazon Neptune team. Amazon Neptune is a fully managed graph database. There I worked on the SPARQL query engine and many other projects. Graph databases are gaining popularity and thanks to Semmtech I was able to understand their value much earlier than most developers.”
