As the new year has started, let’s reflect on the past year. In 2024, we welcomed some incredible new talent to our team, specifically nine new international and Dutch colleagues!
Each of our new hires brings a unique set of skills, fresh perspectives, and a passion for what they do. In this blog, we’ll look closer at who joined our company, what their typical day looks like, what skills and knowledge they’ve picked up already, and who they are outside of Semmtech. Read on to get to know the faces behind our team’s growth!
Jelle joined our team as a consulting analyst after finishing his Master’s degree in Chemistry. He is skilled at complex data analysis and currently supports multiple client projects in the water, maritime, and defense industries. Jelle has learned to use and master the programs ThinkWise and semantic modeling. After work, Jelle plays water polo or spends the weekends with his friends.
Anastasia is part of our business development team. A typical day at Semmtech involves improving the visibility and findability of our organization and aligning with the consultancy team on any new knowledge that needs to be shared. An example of where we share our knowledge is our LinkedIn page and our website. One essential skill she’s learned is time management, as her work involves aligning with internal teams and some external stakeholders. Outside Semmtech, you can find her spending time with friends or baking.
With twelve years of experience as a project manager in consulting firms, Annelien joined Semmtech as our new Head of Project Delivery. In this role, she is helping us further professionalize and optimize how we deliver our projects. Something Annelien noticed as soon as she joined our team was the many opportunities to broaden our skillset, offer more support to our clients, and ultimately deliver more value. In her free time, Annelien loves being social and spending time with her family and friends.
Victor has a master’s degree in Physics (Astronomy) and a second master’s degree as a Math teacher in high school. His day typically starts with checking emails and strategically dividing his time between clients and their most urgent needs, including client work and meetings. Some client obligations include working for a client in the water industry. He has learned several tricks to import data from Excel sheets into Laces using Python, Ontorefine, and OpenRefine. These are essential skills, as each method offers unique flexibility and efficiency. In his free time, Victor enjoys playing board games.
Hidde’s background in data science and AI propelled him to take on the role of consulting analyst. Typically, a working day for him involves modeling in a systems engineering application for a client in the maritime industry. The rest of his time is spent in his specialization, AI and NLP, where he develops new NLP models for an internal project. Additionally, he spends time learning and following training, as he joined us just two months ago. One skill Hidde learned is SEm, a process that helps structure information in a way that is helpful for both people and machines. After work, you can find Hidde as a scouting leader for the wolf cubs and scouts or playing chess.
Harmen joined Semmtech after 5 years of working as an account executive in a firm specializing in tendering and bid management. With his strong knowledge of Semmtech’s industries, he has already been heavily involved in exploring more opportunities for our clients to streamline their information management to overcome challenges such as vendor lock-in, siloed workflows, and inefficiencies that lead to unnecessary spending. A skill he has learned is how object type libraries work, specifically in Laces’ workspaces. In his free time, he loves to run and participate in (ultra) run races.
Volodymyr is completing his internship with us as part of his Computer Science studies. He is helping us ensure that our internal systems manage data efficiently and are user-friendly to meet the needs of our clients. During his time at Semmtech, he has broadened his knowledge of Linked Data and discovered Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration (OSLC). In his free time, Volodymyr enjoys playing tennis and video games.
Laura is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Biomedical Technology and Physics and works part-time at Semmtech as a Student Associate. Her key responsibilities include aiding in developing Laces Academy and actively contributing to client projects. One skill she’s developed this past year is translating complex technical concepts into explicit, engaging learning materials for the Academy. She enjoys the challenge of balancing simplicity with accuracy to empower clients to use our platform confidently. Laura takes acting classes in her free time and enjoys playing a good tennis match.
Angelo joined us recently as a new Sales Development Representative for our software product, Laces. He brings knowledge to the role based on his experience as an Inside Account Manager. His day-to-day tasks include ensuring new Laces users have all the resources they need to succeed in their projects. He has mastered the skill of active listening, which is essential for understanding and solving problems efficiently. In his free time, Angelo enjoys meeting with friends, playing board games, and watching movies.
